The purpose of this policy is to ensure the integrity, transparency, quality, and credibility of scholarly publishing.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to FMMEJ must ensure that:

Originality

  • Submitted work is original and has not been previously published.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.
  • All sources, quotations, data, and ideas obtained from other works are properly cited.

Authorship

  • All listed authors have made significant contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
  • Individuals who have not contributed substantially should not be listed as authors.
  • All co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version before submission.

Data Integrity

Authors must:

  • Present research findings accurately and honestly.
  • Avoid data fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or selective reporting.
  • Retain research data when required for verification purposes.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must provide appropriate citations for all referenced materials and acknowledge any support, funding, or contributions received during the research process.

Multiple, Duplicate, or Redundant Publication

Authors must not:

  • Submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
  • Publish substantially similar work in more than one publication without proper disclosure and permission.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of their research.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making publication decisions based solely on academic merit.
  • Maintaining editorial independence and impartiality.
  • Preserving confidentiality throughout the review process.
  • Ensuring fair and unbiased manuscript evaluation.
  • Managing ethical concerns appropriately.
  • Protecting the integrity of the scholarly record.

Editors shall not discriminate based on nationality, gender, race, religion, political beliefs, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics of authors.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively and professionally.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscripts.
  • Provide constructive and evidence-based feedback.
  • Identify relevant published work not cited by authors.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, duplication, or ethical concerns.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and decline reviews when appropriate.

Double-Blind Peer Review

FMMEJ uses a Double-Blind Peer Review process.

Under this system:

  • Authors do not know the identities of reviewers.
  • Reviewers do not know the identities of authors.
  • Manuscripts are evaluated solely on scholarly merit.
  • Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations and editorial assessment.

Plagiarism Policy

The journal has a strict policy against plagiarism.

Plagiarism includes:

  • Copying text without attribution.
  • Using ideas, figures, tables, or data without proper citation.
  • Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication.
  • Unattributed paraphrasing of another author's work.

All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection tools before peer review and publication.

Manuscripts found to contain substantial plagiarism may be:

  • Rejected immediately.
  • Returned for correction.
  • Retracted after publication if misconduct is discovered later.

Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Plagiarism
  • Citation manipulation
  • False authorship claims
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Ethical violations involving research participants

The journal will investigate allegations of misconduct according to COPE recommendations and may take appropriate corrective action.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

To maintain the integrity of the scholarly record, the journal may publish:

Corrections

Issued when minor errors are identified that do not invalidate the research findings.

Retractions

Issued when findings are proven unreliable due to misconduct, major errors, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices.

Expressions of Concern

Published when serious concerns exist but an investigation is still ongoing.

Confidentiality

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of:

  • Submitted manuscripts
  • Reviewer reports
  • Author information
  • Editorial correspondence

Confidential information must not be disclosed without proper authorization.

Ethical Oversight

Where applicable, authors should ensure that research involving human participants, organizations, surveys, interviews, or sensitive data complies with relevant ethical standards and institutional requirements.

Editors may request supporting documentation when necessary.

Publication Integrity

The journal is committed to:

COPE Compliance
