Abstract

The article deals with issues related to cognitive impairment in patients with hypofunction of the thyroid gland while excluding the influence of another pathology on the nervous system of the body. We examined 72 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of chronic autoimmune thyroiditis, who underwent neuropsychological examination using international scales and tests (MMSE, FAB, CDT, Hamilton scale). The results showed that in a little more than one-fourth of patients, the indicators of cognitive function are normal, in more than half - mild cognitive impairment, moderate CI affecting the quality of life of patients - in 11 patients, which is 15% of the total number of patients studied. The research results can be used in endocrinology, neurology, in the practice of family doctors, in the educational process of medical universities. Analysis of the research results shows that in hypothyroidism, all parameters of cognitive function are equally affected; one can clearly notice the suffering of some indicators while maintaining others.
